DNA โ RNA Lab
Watch a gene become a protein step by step in this free, hands-on DNA-to-RNA simulation.
Overview
DNA to RNA Lab is a free, browser-based science simulation that walks you through the central dogma of molecular biology, from a DNA gene to its RNA transcript to a finished protein. You step through transcription and translation interactively, watching each base pair and codon resolve in real time. It runs entirely in your browser with nothing to install.
The problem
Transcription and translation are hard to grasp from static textbook diagrams alone.
How it works
You start with a DNA gene and advance through each stage, watching the simulation transcribe DNA into RNA and translate codons into amino acids, building the protein step by step.
Use cases
- Students learning the central dogma of molecular biology
- Teachers demonstrating transcription and translation in class
- Self-learners exploring how genes code for proteins
